First Book of the Year + 3rd Blogiversary!!

Wow, I can't believe it's the new year already! Happy 2018 everyone!! In preparation for this post I looked over my "First Book of the Year" post for 2017 and, once again, I find myself hoping that the world at large finds more peace and happiness in the new year than it did in the old. I'm also really excited for the next year's allotment of books...2018 seems to have quite a lot of great books on offer. And to start the year off with I'm reading a book that comes out laster this month!

I love participating in Book Journey's First Book of the Year. If you aren't familiar with this tradition here's how Sheila describes it on her website:

Here is what First Book is. The first book of the New Year should be:

A. A coveted book that you have wanted to read but have just not found the time.

B. A delicious favorite… one you have read before, but crave to read again.

C. Really whatever you want it to – it is after all YOUR First Book Of the year.

Make it AWESOME.

For my first book of the year I'm going with a favorite author's upcoming release, one that is already shaping up to be more thrilling and suspenseful than her typical books. It's also one she cowrote with a first-time novelist, something I always find interesting. I won't keep you in the dark any longer...my pick for the first book of the year is...

A novel of suspense that explores the complexities of marriage and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement.
You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves.
You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
Assume nothing.

Discover the next blockbuster novel of suspense, and get ready for the read of your life.

Today is also the third (I can't even believe it!) Blogiversary of A Literary Vacation! I really have a hard time imagining I've been doing this for three years today as it feels like just yesterday I started. When this sort of anniversary comes around it makes me reassess where I've been and where I might be going. I've met some wonderful fellow readers over these few years and I'm happy and honored to call some of them friends. I'm considering starting a Master's program in 2018...although I haven't decided for sure yet since it's such a big commitment...so I might not have as many reviews as usual as the year progresses.  However, regardless of what I decide to do, I will keep blogging as much as I can as I can't really imagine not doing it now!
